YOURS IS THE KINGDOM,
The power and the glory,
Forever and ever,
Forever and ever, Amen!
(Repeat)
A trumpet blast will herald
The day of Your return:
Your glory and Your splendour
Will be seen in all the earth!
And oh, what a day,
Oh, what a day that will be,
When the earth joins with heaven
In worship and praise to Jesus!
The time is drawing nearer,
I believe it’s coming soon,
When we will rise to greet You
As a bride to meet her groom.

Song Meaning
Dave Bilbrough’s “Yours Is The Kingdom The Power” begins with a declaration of God’s kingdom, power, and glory, then looks ahead to Jesus’ return. Its trumpet, gathered worship, and bridegroom images turn that future hope into praise.
Bible Connections
The opening echoes the familiar closing doxology of the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:13 in some translations). The trumpet and meeting Christ recall 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; the bride imagery recalls Revelation 19:7–9. These are connections to the lyric, not claims that it quotes every passage word for word.
For Worship
This song fits services about Christ’s return, Advent hope, or the kingdom of God. Its repeated “forever and ever” refrain gives a congregation a simple response of praise.
